Arizona has a history with vanity "3rd party" candidates and car salesmen.

Anyone remember Ev Mecham? He was a crackpot Phoenix car magnate who was elected governor because a mainstream Dem politican named Bill Shultz decided that, after dropping out of the primary, he needed to run as an independent and spit the Dem vote during the general election.

Mecham was such an embarrassment, even to the GOP, that he was impeached halfway through his term. The vote wasn't that close.
