OT...

Neil Armstrong dead at 82.

One of our real heroes (and a genuine symbol of our desire to explore and reach out) is gone.  Our national dreams just got a little emptier for his passing.

Heck, I just want my Tang back.

When all of the astronauts said they'd like a little tang, leave it to the government to think it was a drink.

Watch "The Right Stuff"... they succeeded.

Very, very few people could even imagine that their names will live on a thousand years from now. Neil Armstrong is one of those rare individuals that will be a hero to people of all nations.

A LOT of the technology we have today can be traced directly back to the steps he and the others took... or was made possible because, after they succeeded, the nation had capabilities that hadn't existed before.

A rocket with enough power can take a man to the moon... or it can be used to lift communications satellites into the proper orbits to develop a worldwide communications infrastructure.

The second capabilitycame after the first was developed and proven.

I think we've lost most of the drive and sense of wonder that defined us 40 years ago. We've turned inward and went for conveinence instead of pushing the envelope. Armstrong should have been the beginning and not marked the end of a chapter.

OMG. He's just reading that stuff off of a teleprompter.

OMG. The first president who looks like me and he's got to deal with birthers, community organizer-haters, telepromptor sniping, terrorist first bumps...

...is it 2012? Or, did I wake up in 1947?

I can't decide whether ol' Mitt reminds me more of Thurston Howell III, Michael Scott, or Patrick Bateman. He's lost and confused without "lovey", but he's always got a nice conversation killer primed and ready to unload on the employees at all times. Then again, he really seems to "just want to fit in". I wish one of these intrepid reporters would have the wherewithal to ask him if he has outstanding video rentals. Headscratcher.
