–The presidential campaign managers exchange dueling letters.

Mike Allen and Jim VandeHei coax an anonymous Romney adviser to admit that their policy language is vague by design: “Campaigns that are about specifics, particularly in today’s environment, get tripped up.”

–In a local interview, Romney hugs the Ryan plan, calling their respective visions for Medicare  “the same. If not identical, it’s probably close to identical.”

–The Atlantic Wire points out that Romney’s whiteboard gambit yesterday was not exactly a model of analytical rigor. Gotta wonder how Romney would’ve reacted if he was given that presentation from a rookie Bain consultant.

–Paul Ryan’s House counterpart, Maryland Democrat Chris Van Hollen, is the likely pick to play the Wisconsinite for Biden debate prep.

–Peggy Noonan weighs in with messaging advice for the Republican ticket.
