Austin, Texas – Since 2007, Rick Perry has been living in a $10,000-per-month rental rather than the governor’s mansion. (Renovations and then a fire have kept him out of the house.) The borrowed mansion, ensconced in West Austin's swanky Barton Creek estates, boasts five bedrooms, seven baths and pecan-wood floors. The AP reported in 2010 that Perry’s state-paid home expenses included $8,400 in maintenance for a heated pool, Neiman Marcus window coverings and a $1,000 “emergency repair” to the ice machine.
