Welcome to the New Swampland!

To our readers,

As we’re sure you’ve noticed, a few things have changed around here. We’ve revamped the look of the site and transformed it into a one-stop destination for all of TIME’s politics coverage. You’ll see some new faces and plenty of familiar ones, but the prolific Mark Thompson, our Pulitzer-Prize winning Pentagon correspondent, has branched off to form Battleland. (If you haven’t visited yet, you really should.) He’ll be busy charting the facts and foibles of military policy there, but we hope he’ll be back with a guest post now and then.

There are plenty of new features on Swampland that we’ll let you discover on your own, but here’s what our regular readers should know:

You can still find our newest posts and stories under “Latest News,” but items with lasting value will remain above the fold to make sure you don’t miss them. If that change is just too scary, you can still view a full-text, reverse chronological feed of our content by clicking “blog view” at the upper-right of the page.

For our loyal community of commenters, we’ve instituted a new — and, we think, much better — way for you to interact with our writers and with each other. Though your old comments are being transferred over to the new site (have some patience), your WordPress account will no longer allow you to weigh in. You have the option of signing in with accounts from Google, Twitter, Facebook, Yahoo, OpenID or Disqus. This system will give you, the commenter, more control. You can now “like” others’ comments to push them to the top of queue, and sort comments by rating or order submitted.

Your bookmarks and RSS feeds should all still work as before, but if anything’s not functioning properly, don’t hesitate to drop us a line. As always, thanks for reading.
