Jay Carney Faces The Murder Boards

Swampland alum Jay Carney is set to take the briefing podium next week, and as CNN’s Dan Lothian reports, he has been training behind closed doors to prepare.

Carney would stand behind a podium in a room in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. The team of staffers played the role of reporters, and would ask him questions on “current topics,” closely following the format of Robert Gibbs daily briefing.

A while back, junior press aides at the White House posted a photo in their office of their fearless leader, Robert Gibbs, in college, wearing an earring. Perhaps it can be replaced with this gem, taken in 1986, when Carney first worked for TIME as an intern while still attending Yale. Note the complete Anthony Michael Hall hair package.
