The Florida Senate Race: Ooof.

Gov. Charlie Crist, whose website calls him “independent leadership for Florida,” had to know this was coming. But still, it kind of hurts. . .
Crist is trying to burnish his Democratic support. He recently got former Rep. Robert Wexler, once a rising Democratic star, to endorse his campaign at Century Village, a hub of south Florida’s democratic base. (Video after the jump.) But then Wexler’s former chief of staff is working on the Crist campaign.

The Phony War: Obama and Romney Are Debating Character, Not Policy

More than five months from Election Day, the back-and-forth about Mitt Romney’s record at Bain already feels played out. Unfortunately, there’s good reason to expect the campaign continues in this vein indefinitely. Neither Barack Obama nor Mitt Romney are terribly interested in dwelling on policy platforms. Romney’s plan to slash spending and keep taxes low on the wealthy isn’t especially popular, at least not at any level of detail beyond a blithe promise to shrink the deficit. Meanwhile, Obama’s signature first-term achievements, like health care, the stimulus and Wall Street reform, are all unpopular or tricky to sell. (The Dodd-Frank bill is the most popular of these, but hyping it means offending wealthy donors.) So what we’re getting instead is a superficial duel about character–and, worse, one that’s based on the largely false premise that the better man can better “manage” the economy back to health.

Unfortunately CC and Meek are eating each other up and Marco Polo goes unscathed….why I have no idea.

Crist should argue that at the time he claimed to be the real conservative, being a real conservative didn’t mean being a Tea Party Crazy conservative. He can add further, that even as a real conservative, he was always to the Left of redneck liberals. Therefore, his claim to being a centrist or independent, now, is perfectly consistent.

    Derek,

    Wow.

Have you ever considered a carrier in “Political Spin”?
I think you would be a natural.
    .
I bet you even wrote those comments with a straight face.

As a former centrist I know all the techniques for making it appear that one actually possesses consistent principles, while not having any at all. I also understand that being attacked by both the left and right just proves how right you

charlie crist is was and always “has been” an egotistical self-centered opportunistic phony and accomplished bs artist.
As for “redneck liberals” as someone you pinko commies like to call ordinary American hard working citizens that aren’t on the dole, we may surprise you all this November. Better start scraping those Obama stickers off your Priuses, limousines and beaters right now. Never mind. We know who you are.
