Bad Guy vs. Bad Guy In The Illinois Senate Race

Both Republican Mark Kirk and Democrat Alexi Gioannoulias went way negative today with new ads. To wit:

As a 34-year-old myself, I think 34-year-olds everywhere should protest this age-based smear. John F. Kennedy began his campaign for the U.S. senate, which he won, when he was 34. And there are lots of other 34-year-olds of note: Um, Colin Farrell, Rashida Jones, Freddie Prinze, Jr., 50 Cent, Erin Burnett (in a couple days), Reese Witherspoon. . . well, never mind.

The Phony War: Obama and Romney Are Debating Character, Not Policy

More than five months from Election Day, the back-and-forth about Mitt Romney’s record at Bain already feels played out. Unfortunately, there’s good reason to expect the campaign continues in this vein indefinitely. Neither Barack Obama nor Mitt Romney are terribly interested in dwelling on policy platforms. Romney’s plan to slash spending and keep taxes low on the wealthy isn’t especially popular, at least not at any level of detail beyond a blithe promise to shrink the deficit. Meanwhile, Obama’s signature first-term achievements, like health care, the stimulus and Wall Street reform, are all unpopular or tricky to sell. (The Dodd-Frank bill is the most popular of these, but hyping it means offending wealthy donors.) So what we’re getting instead is a superficial duel about character–and, worse, one that’s based on the largely false premise that the better man can better “manage” the economy back to health.

Puppies. I have concert t-shirts older than that.

Guess misspelling Freddie Prinze Jr. is proof that you’re 34. ‘Specially since you don’t remember his dad.

His dad died when I was 1. But I have fixed the spelling.

Why don’t both of them make like the Fantastic Four’s Human Torch and burn up?

Catch an episode or two of “Chico and the Man” on YouTube (w/Jack Albertson). Pretty funny.

Moses died when I was 1. I’m still upset he didn’t get the unicorns on the ark.

Hey, don’t go all Tweety on Erin Burnett, Scherer!

Don’t correct your elders and go cut me a switch from out back. My bursitis is acting up so you’ll have to beat yourself.

OT, but Scherer will understand–I mean, Freddie Prinze Jr!?

BTW, I always thought Farrell was a twat until I saw In Bruges recently. Killer flick.

Jim Cramer once tried to pull similar crap on Erin Burnett but she got him back…

Richard Pryor once did a routine along those lines about how he was forced to go get a switch to beat his own ass with. Hilarious.

Busted. I was thinking of that when I posted it.

I think Tunch is messing around with the site. Cole needs to get him some new cat toys.

What bothers me Michael is that you know Erin Burnett’s birthday? Are you a groupie of the CNBC Wall Street shill?

  • apr2563

Oh thank you Stuart. That was the first thing that came to my mind when I read Michael’s post. That was an incredible tourettes Matthews’ moment that included his basic sexism and stupidity.

I had little regard for Farrell until I saw In Bruges. Great movie. Funny and so dark. Ralph Finnes was a super villain. He was excellent in Crazy Heart, also.

That may be a touch obscure there Decon. However the fact you pimped JC’s blog gave me a good giggle.
