Just weeks after President Obama’s secret weekend mission to Kabul, First Lady Michelle Obama showed up today unannounced in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, with Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden, proving that secret overseas trips can be family affairs too. From the White House release:

First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden are visiting Haiti to underscore to the Haitian people and the Haitian government the enduring U.S. commitment to help Haiti recover and rebuild, especially as we enter the rainy and hurricane seasons, and to thank the women and men across the whole of the U.S. government for their extraordinary efforts in Haiti during the past three months.  They will also reach out to the UN and international relief communities in recognition of the truly global effort underway to help Haiti.

Update: In other presidential travel news, the White House just put out this statement: “On Saturday evening, the President will travel to Krakow, Poland to attend the State Funeral of President Lech Kaczynski and First Lady Maria Kaczynska on Sunday, April 18th.”
