Re: Morning Must Reads

It would seem that one of the benefits of being President is better access to shoe repair. Compare Adam’s post below with this photo that our incomparable Callie Shell took of Obama during his presidential campaign:

Romney Defends Bain Record, Hits Obama on Economy: ‘He Just Doesn’t Have a Clue’

Mitt Romney lashed President Obama’s economic stewardship in an interview with TIME’s Mark Halperin on Wednesday, deflecting attacks on his years as a private equity executive and laying out how he hopes to take control of the economy as soon as he’s sworn in, should he defeat Obama in November.

Mother of Mitt: How Lenore Romney’s Failed Campaign Shaped the Presumptive Republican Nominee

This week’s TIME cover story, “The Mother of the Mitt Campaign,” tells the tale of how Lenore Romney’s 1970 run for U.S. Senate may have made a bigger impression on the Republican presidential candidate than his years spent as the son of a governor. Mitt’s father lost his own presidential bid, but it was the lessons from his mother’s loss that are more instructive as Romney enters the campaign stretch.

KT: Thanks for the photo. I hope you don’t mind, but this just became another “1000 Words”.

C’mon Hillary! Drop out and I’ll make you Secretary of State or something. I need new shoes and Michelle needs more money for inappropriate clothing.

  • sacredh

Michelle, don’t worry about shopping. I beat up a homeless guy and took his shoes.

Karen I loved this photo when I saw it the first time.
I have had shoes like this that were so comfortable I could not part with them long enough to be repaired.
Kind of makes him seem like one of us.

Obama: I want hundreds of billions to keep the economy from completely collapsing. I want a trillion dollars for an overhaul of the healthcare system. I need $10 million to pay McCain to pick an idiot for his running mate. Hit some wealthy donor up for $50 for some new shoes too.

    You remember that picture, too?
    .
Adlai’s were worse – worn all the way through.

  • logicforbipeds

Yeah – that picture left an impression on me. Apropos Stevenson quote for the last few days: “There are worse things than losing an election; the worst thing is to lose one’s convictions and not tell the people the truth.”

Dating yourself isn’t a problem – but are you “engaged” yet?

  • sacredh

    Don’t do anything I wouldn’t.
