A Fine Coupla’ Coconuts

I am currently imprisoned with Karl Rove–ok, just his memoir, but it’s pretty stuffy in here–and so I haven’t been keeping close track of the Eric Massa affair. But, in sequence…terminal cancer, making sexual advances on a male staffer (or maybe not), confronted by naked Rahm in the House gym shower, claiming he was forced to retire (how?). Now if this were an SAT exam what would be the next data point in the sequence…

That’s right! A full hour with Glenn Beck. Is this a great country or what?

The Phony War: Obama and Romney Are Debating Character, Not Policy

More than five months from Election Day, the back-and-forth about Mitt Romney’s record at Bain already feels played out. Unfortunately, there’s good reason to expect the campaign continues in this vein indefinitely. Neither Barack Obama nor Mitt Romney are terribly interested in dwelling on policy platforms. Romney’s plan to slash spending and keep taxes low on the wealthy isn’t especially popular, at least not at any level of detail beyond a blithe promise to shrink the deficit. Meanwhile, Obama’s signature first-term achievements, like health care, the stimulus and Wall Street reform, are all unpopular or tricky to sell. (The Dodd-Frank bill is the most popular of these, but hyping it means offending wealthy donors.) So what we’re getting instead is a superficial duel about character–and, worse, one that’s based on the largely false premise that the better man can better “manage” the economy back to health.

    .
What will they talk about? I take it it will not be family hour.

  • afguy

    Or Stormy Daniels…

Followed by a full hour with Larry King! Talk about a great country. Set your tivos.

    “Chappaquiddick, New York, hello!”

  • freeinpa

Just goes t show you that spending an hour with Beck is far better (and saner) than being a Democratic Congressman man or being naked with Rahm.

Just having that last thought pop into my head, I need to go poke out my minds’ eye now.

Thanks for your usual hard hitting reporting JK. Mom must be soooo proud!

    JK

PS: I await your upcoming hit job on Rove.

I await your upcoming hit job on Rove.
    .
Hey, it’s a dirty job but somebody’s gotta do it…

  • formerlyjames

free, be sure to check out the Time poll today about how unfairly Rove is treated.

  • freeinpa

    afguy:

Its what the left specializes in–cheap shots. Then they cry when they are treated in-kind.

Time poll? What MSNBC too busy frothing over BUsh and Cheney yet?

  • grape_crush

A full hour with Glenn Beck.
    .
Hopefully neither one will be naked.

  • afguy

    Thanks, grape!
    .
NOW I gotta go find a whole case of “brain bleach” to get THAT image out of my head…

So what is your point? All I can say is what I have said before:

My prayers have finally come true.

  • grape_crush

Oddly enough, I believe Massa’s statement about Emanuel.

  • afguy

Does this also involve large amounts of beans, laxatives, no air conditioning, locked doors, and a lack of potty facilities?
    .
Then that’s MY dream (but Joe’s presence is entirely optional in my version).
    .
    Karl’s presence…. definitely required.

  • afguy

Me too… except I think he’s the real deal, not just an offspring.

  • Exiled_At_Home (formerly Neo)

Hyperbole aside, Massa makes a rather accurate observation, I would say.

I am currently imprisioned with Richard Simmons and he is brutalizing me. Damn those workout making him buff.

  • kathy

So sad, and so much fun.

The really great thing is that Beck and all temporarily owned Massa and then realized their mistake just a little too late, so they’ve neutralized the damage to the Dems. sweet.

  • afguy

    Exiled,
    .
You’re getting NO argument from me about Emanuel.
    .
He’s a problem on so many levels they can’t be counted. Not the least of which are the questions about his true loyalties.
