Does the White House have to pay Steve Jobs royalties for this?

The Phony War: Obama and Romney Are Debating Character, Not Policy

More than five months from Election Day, the back-and-forth about Mitt Romney’s record at Bain already feels played out. Unfortunately, there’s good reason to expect the campaign continues in this vein indefinitely. Neither Barack Obama nor Mitt Romney are terribly interested in dwelling on policy platforms. Romney’s plan to slash spending and keep taxes low on the wealthy isn’t especially popular, at least not at any level of detail beyond a blithe promise to shrink the deficit. Meanwhile, Obama’s signature first-term achievements, like health care, the stimulus and Wall Street reform, are all unpopular or tricky to sell. (The Dodd-Frank bill is the most popular of these, but hyping it means offending wealthy donors.) So what we’re getting instead is a superficial duel about character–and, worse, one that’s based on the largely false premise that the better man can better “manage” the economy back to health.

Audacity of Dope: Tales of a Toking Teenage Obama

We knew Barack Obama smoked weed in high school because he wrote about it in his books. What we didn’t know until Buzzfeed posted these choice nuggets (I’m so sorry) from David Maraniss’s new book on the President’s younger years, is the giggle-worthy details of his “Choom Gang” lifestyle, which are right out of a buddy stoner flick. Obama and his friends drove around the lush Hawaii countryside, hot-boxing their VW bus and re-upping with a long-haired pizza-tossing dealer named Ray, who Obama thanked in his yearbook “for all the good times.”

How is it not surprising that this Administration is more focused on the continuation of their political campaign, rather than working on the importance of Job creation?
    .
Here is an “app” for you Mr Gibbs and Mr Obama. We the People have decided you are failing in your job. Simply, “You’re Fired!!!”.

I don’t have an iPhone or an iPod or a Blackberry. I don’t even turn my cell phone on most of the time. I’m disenchanted with President Obama, to put it mildly. But I still think this app is pretty cool & if I ever join the 21st century, I’ll use it.

Dear newfreedomblog – you don’t speak for “we the people.” Kindly sod off. Thanks again for 2008!

Oh, and Michael, since it’s a free app, no.

  • Matt

There’s the problem. The White House is spending too much time on iPhone apps and not enough on selling health care to Americans.

Sounds slightly more useful than the Time.com mobile app.

  • newfreedomblog

Unfortunately you are as out of touch as the Obama and his Administration. But, good luck in 2010, it surely cannot become even more dire than 2009, or can it?. Enjoy!

  • stuartzechman

Well, the glee on the right that the country is hurting is almost palpable.
    .
Keep cheering for national failure, rightists, the American people will surely love you for it.

  • stuartzechman

The Time.com mobile app is beyond worthless.
    .
These geniuses’ mobile version of Swampland doesn’t display comments, either.
    .
    What a brilliant bunch.

    SZ:

That’s a load of nonsense. No one rejoices is seeing people hurting. The conservatives were ridiculed and name called for outing Obama as a liar and fraud. His policies are bankrupting this country and the cheerleaders from the left continue their knee jerk reflexive support. It is only when there is severe pain from the failure of those policies will we be released from the grip of stupidity that runaway government spending is sound fiscal policy, that porkulus bills will save or create jobs, that 2000 page heath care bills that increase premiums, exempts certain groups from sharing the payments and increase the deficit is “reform” or that taxing banks to repay taxpayer losses that have already paid back the money with interest while exempting political allies.

==Do we wish for the failure of these policies,? We don’t have to wish—they are failures! We need to raise the flag that we need to move away from this nonsense. The American people know it

  • stuartzechman

    OK, maybe “rightists” was over-broad.
    .
Maybe I should have said “some rightists”, referring to supposed Americans who gleefully exclaim “Enjoy!

Perhaps Mr Zechman is fully confused, as usual. No, no “glee” is taken when Americans suffer. Unlike the Democrats and their Democrat Party President, the liberals have much to explain. Why they allowed social welfare programs take precedence over the need for jobs and stability in the economy.
    .
Perhaps you should direct your insults to your own party representatives.
    .
The “enjoy” comment I made was for forgotten to enjoy his new way of communication with the White House. I just find it very odd that they will yet again concern themselves over something that most Americans cannot even afford right now, let alone use as a way of communication or obtaining information, not that I enjoy the very sad news coming out of this White House.
    .
You seem frustrated Mr Zechman, is your new President not doing what you think he should be doing?

  • stuartzechman

You seem frustrated Mr Zechman, is your new President not doing what you think he should be doing?

Yes, of course I’m frustrated. Haven’t you noticed that?
    .
Of course I don’t think that our new President is effectively governing.
    .
Did you notice that possessive “our”, my literacy-deficient rightist co-commenter?

Perhaps you should direct your insults to your own party representatives.

I have, and I will. Unlike rightist jihadis like yourself, I won’t base that criticism on silly, hardly-existent problems like symbolic, token welfare programs, but on the substantial, preponderant failure embodied in continued welfare for the elites of finance and industry…and government.

The “enjoy” comment I made was for forgotten to enjoy his new way of communication with the White House.

You might want to go back to the basics on your communication skills.
    .
Honestly, you sound as if you’re infected with some deluded glee at the situation.

No, no, free and new. THANK YOU for the Bush, Republican Congress years. They brought us debt, an unjustified war, no job gains, an unfettered banking and Wall Street cabal, destruction of our privacy, and torture.
What probably is the most satisfying, they brought us an oligarchy that will be with us for sometime.

  • thomasrial

Come on people. This is a White House communications application that transcends the current Administration.

This is a great tool for those interested in politics, studying politics, and keeping up on the President and his/her administration. Of course it is a tool to promote the work of the Obama Administration, but it will be for the next President too.

So all of you who hate Obama or will hate the next President, whoever that may be, lighten up and stop shoveling your vitriol down our collective throats. The vast majority of us are, well frankly, really damn tired of it!
