Tennessee Mayor Accuses Barack Obama Of Hating On Charlie Brown, Peanuts

Russell Wiseman, the mayor of Arlington, Tenn., (pop. 2,569 in 2000), was infuriated by President Obama’s address on Afghanistan Tuesday night. This is what Wiseman posted on his Facebook page, according to the Commercial Appeal in Memphis.

Ok, so, this is total crap, we sit the kids down to watch ‘The Charlie Brown Christmas Special’ and our muslim president is there, what a load…..try to convince me that wasn’t done on purpose. Ask the man if he believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and he will give you a 10 minute disertation (sic) about it….w…hen the answer should simply be ‘yes’….you obama people need to move to a muslim country…oh wait, that’s America….pitiful.

Indeed! Later in the same post, Wiseman dug himself even deeper. (Yes, this is possible.)

you know, our forefathers had it written in the original Constitution that ONLY property owners could vote, if that has stayed in there, things would be different…….

Indeed! Wiseman, a vice president and commercial lender at First Capital Bank in Germantown who has twice been elected mayor, has about 1,600 friends on Facebook. When contacted by the Appeal to discuss his views further, Wiseman declined to elaborate. “It’s ridiculous for someone to send my Facebook post,” Wiseman said. “You guys are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.”

It doesn’t take a lot of work.

Audacity of Dope: Tales of a Toking Teenage Obama

We knew Barack Obama smoked weed in high school because he wrote about it in his books. What we didn’t know until Buzzfeed posted these choice nuggets (I’m so sorry) from David Maraniss’s new book on the President’s younger years, is the giggle-worthy details of his “Choom Gang” lifestyle, which are right out of a buddy stoner flick. Obama and his friends drove around the lush Hawaii countryside, hot-boxing their VW bus and re-upping with a long-haired pizza-tossing dealer named Ray, who Obama thanked in his yearbook “for all the good times.”

Obama Stumbles? Why the President’s Right to Talk About Bain

The meme of the day in journo-world is that President Obama has stumbled at the outset of the general election campaign. The evidence for this? Well, uh, there isn’t very much, really–except that a few Democrats have criticized his campaign’s attacks on Mitt Romney’s record at Bain Capital and that Obama’s fundraising is merely humongous, instead of obscenely humongous. The two phenomena are linked, of course: Obama isn’t getting the usual haul from Wall Street because he has outrageously–outrageously!–tried to regulate the bankers who did so much to crash the economy in 2008. The handful of Democrats squawking are people who either (a) get money from private equity firms or (b) have retired and joined Mondo Casino. But there is another side to this story:

He didn’t accuse Obama of hating on Charlie Brown. Unless there is some text missing. He seems to have really wanted to watch Charlie Brown with his kids. Finally, he is the mayor of a town of about 2,500 people. I don’t see why we should care what the man says on his facebook page. Unless of course the media is going to elevate him to VP status for the Palin/Wiseman ticket in 2012.

The most ridiculous thing is that this is a story at all. And I don’t mean the Mayor’s remarks even. I mean the fact that Obama’s speech bumped the special. Freakin’ Drudge and Beck made deals about it before these transparently racist remarks, and they weren’t exactly alone either.

I mean….Democrats and liberals are mad because Obama is putting more troops into something that looks like an obvious boondoggle (even with promises to start troop drawdown finally next summer). Wingers and Conservative pundits get mad because Obama is plotting to undermine America and Christmas by forcing Charlie Brown to be bumped a week ahead.

    Wow!
Some people on here are actually talking about why this is newsworthy and why time was spent reporting a story from such a small town. This man, a public leader is a racist plain and simple. Whether a racist is in a position of power as a mayor of a small town, or as the president of the United States good comes for these people to be publicly exposed. Public shaming and punishment is a small price to pay for those who still harbor the view that one race is superior to another. This is an; outdated, ignorant, self serving, dividing, and ultimately self defeating view.
So in my opinion, a reminder to all that this kind of thinking is laughably embarrassing, and can get you fired or in trouble too is ALWAYS a good and worthy story.

You expect SANITY in American government or politics? It’s always been patently abusive toward the American people in general, and supportive if not downright obliging toward those in power.
    .
The left boo-hoo’s about Bush, the right boo-hoos about Obama. Frankly, I’m tired of both sides and wish they’d either wean themselves off of the two party system by moving toward the middle or both be silenced forever by a refusal on the part of the American public to play the two party system anymore.
    .
Frankly, I’d opt for the latter.
    .
Someone with a history of middle-of-the-road politics will win the next presidential election. It would be NICE if we could start the process by getting rid of everyone up for election NOW and replacing them with people who eschew ultra-extremist views of either side.
    .
Karl Rove didn’t start the us versus them mentality we have in American Politics today. What he did was raise it to a toxic level. It’s high time Americans did away with extremism and opted, instead for middle of the road sanity. But while the RNC and DNC control the country, it won’t happen anytime soon.

    .
No, the lame stream Media would rather take on an Enquirer-like story, a STAR Magazine article about a little known mayor in some rural town in Tennesee. Why you ask? It is the new Democrat Party strategy these days. When someone questions the great and powerful “Oz”, he or she is simply a “racist”. He’s not the only one who deserves blame, spob.
    .
Chertoff himself, as well as Rove, smeared the victims in a vitriol-filled campaign engineered by Rove.
    .
And, as a matter of fact, Bush’s inaction is a worldwide source of embarrassment to our country. Compare it with the response to the Indonesia earthquake the following year which a US response 12,000 from home took two days, while I, myself, an average American, found out about the flooding in NOLA less than two hours, beating President Bush by fully 100 – something hours.
    .
I wouldn’t disrepresent the Katrina situation, spob.
    .
Instead, go to http://www.levees.org for accurate information on the Katrina debacle.
    .
In addition, the reason we have a diaspora still numbering more than 100,000, is because Bush immediately (wll, not “immediately”, see above) declared an “economic zone” around NOLA in the days following in which wages did not have to meet minimum wage standards (go to SourceWatch for an enormous body of information on this, and the aftermath).
    .
Immegrants flooded to NOLA, preventing any of the diaspora from returning, as they took most of the rebuilding jobs available. In addition, the revocation of the economic zone that December did nothing to help. Instead, the immegrants continued to hang onto those jobs as they now had experience – and state-standard wages.
    .
This is fundamentally the reason why the diaspora cannot return.

    .
You argue against your own statments. Good luck!
    .
    Happy “stormfront”-ing…

  • 53_3

I look at it this way:
    .
Employment is a lagging indicator. That’s not in dispute.
    .
Early on, job losses were in the 500,000 territory. That’s not in dispute either.
    .
They have since flattened out to between 0 and 200,000. That’s not in dispute either.
    .
There have been numerous advance indicators, including economic outlooks that foresee improvement. That’s not in dispute.
    .
It’s pretty clear to me that the economy has bottomed out, so I think that the “If” part of the this “if” statement has more applicability in the past than it does now.
    .
    When it happens, who knows?
    .
Maybe Rusty will have another of his famous “Sleeping White Giant” moments…

  • sacredh

53_3: I also think the economy has bottomed out. My biggest concern is something we aren’t aware of or aren’t expecting. Another terrorist attack, a major economy tanking, another war in the Middle East or something else blowing up in our economy. I also don’t rule out complete gridlock if the republicans make significant gains next year.

  • 53_3

I think the single biggest threat is gridlock, particularly if we keep persuing that majik 60 number and not holding their feet to the fires of blame.
    .
I think that as for terrorist attacks, the biggest threats are GOP crackpots and teabagging lone wolfers as well as Al Queda. Problem there is it’s easier to tell an Al Queda operative from an average American then say, the likes of 2/3rdsrocks, who is one of those who are on the edge.
    .
Then, there’s always an unsolicited war with Iran. As the Israeli train gets closer to the Iranian train over the nukes, we might get dragged in even if we don’t want to.
    .
Obama, like that janitor in from of the Chinese venue where Obama met their leaders, was left with one hell of a mess.
    .
And we haven’t even gotten to the end of the RCR game!

  • 53_3

“And we haven’t even gotten to the end of the RCR game!”
    .
Was supposed to be “…HCR game!”. Oops.
    .
    On the Global Warming thingie:
    .
Problems at a single facility have really had no impact on scientific consensus, since the data collected is not under suspicion and even if it were, it only comprises a very small proportion of data collected over the last 30 years supporting the hypothesis that global warming was caused by man.
    .
There have been other hoaxes, such as Piltdown Man and Cold Fusion, two examples that have been more than adequately addressed Those papers that do cite them will be reviewed by their authors and others and the impact of their citations will be evaluated accordingly. And it won’t be done by politicians.
    .
The global warming hypothesis is still carrying the day as far as scientific consensus is concerned.

  • rustyreturns

It is so incredulous john. TIME like the rest of the liberal media are so far up inside the far left’s butts it is nearly impossible to get the truth.
    .
Reporters on this site either regurgitate the Obama talking points verbatim or simply make up their own lies.
    .
But, I have hope. Hope that in 2010 that most voting Americans will see the dangers the left have brought us. See through all the lies and lack of media coverage on the truth. See through that “We the People” are in charge of this country, not the Harry Reids or Nancy Pelosi’s of the country.
    .
It is time to shove the 20% that the left holds back into the recesses of their far left extremist’s world. Hopefully this time they will be gone for good.
    .
We can only hope that all the fat Al Gore’s of the Democrat party whose only agenda is to shift power and line their pockets with “green job’s tax dollars” are exposed as the lying sack of crap that they are.
