Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey will tell you that he doesn’t get many more calls from fundraisers or constituents about abortion than he does the public plan, death panels or immigration. “We’re getting a lot of inquiries from lots of different groups on several differnet topics,” he demurrs. “I don’t think it’s any different or intense on this than on other issues: Medicare advantage, the public option.”

But for pro-life groups, he’s their great hope in the Senate. A look a why. And while Casey may be moderating his tone, “not drawing any lines in the sand” on abortion, others are. Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow said on Fox News Sunday that she would vote against any health care bill that includes Stupak-like language.
