The White House: Lowering Healthcare Costs One Nerdy Video At A Time

This thing is so earnest. It’s like its own Saturday Night Live parody. Hard to know whether to laugh or just feel so good about the world that you start craving an apple.

Is there another nerd anywhere in America who can compete with Peter Orszag? (“Are they the same price?”) Bill Gates retired. That guy from The Office is just an actor. Pee Wee Herman is long gone. I can’t think of any.

The Phony War: Obama and Romney Are Debating Character, Not Policy

More than five months from Election Day, the back-and-forth about Mitt Romney’s record at Bain already feels played out. Unfortunately, there’s good reason to expect the campaign continues in this vein indefinitely. Neither Barack Obama nor Mitt Romney are terribly interested in dwelling on policy platforms. Romney’s plan to slash spending and keep taxes low on the wealthy isn’t especially popular, at least not at any level of detail beyond a blithe promise to shrink the deficit. Meanwhile, Obama’s signature first-term achievements, like health care, the stimulus and Wall Street reform, are all unpopular or tricky to sell. (The Dodd-Frank bill is the most popular of these, but hyping it means offending wealthy donors.) So what we’re getting instead is a superficial duel about character–and, worse, one that’s based on the largely false premise that the better man can better “manage” the economy back to health.

Audacity of Dope: Tales of a Toking Teenage Obama

We knew Barack Obama smoked weed in high school because he wrote about it in his books. What we didn’t know, until Buzzfeed posted these choice nuggets (I’m so sorry) from David Maraniss’s new book on the President’s younger years, were the giggle-worthy details of his “Choom Gang” lifestyle, which are right out of a buddy stoner flick. Obama and his friends drove around the lush Hawaii countryside, hot-boxing their VW bus and re-upping with a long-haired pizza-tossing dealer named Ray, whom Obama thanked in his yearbook “for all the good times.”

I have to say he’s doppleganger-ing some serious Robert Carradine.

As a pinko, I’d say one thing about Chairman Mao: He wouldn’t have stood for a “communications director” who looks like she’s trying to catch flies when she speaks. Painful to watch:

And in keeping with McCarthyites, this is simply priceless. And Rush is the victim in their collapsing world.

    Kinda like Napolitano’s report on extremism . . . .

“Pee Wee Herman is long gone”

I’m not sure he belongs in the nerd category. When I think of nerds, I think of pocket protectors, not pocket pullers.

Orszag works the geek hotness pretty well I think.

  • exile500

This was really funny, Michael. And you describe it perfectly. Thanks, and well done.

  • greenlyfe

That was so cute. Love the part where he’s talking about his daughters and does the hopping thing, lol.

And Orzag should not be compared to Gates, he’s more of a Steve Jobs I’d definitely do him geek.

Bill Gates, on the other hand, seems asexual.

And to top that off, her constant tongue wagging is indicative of many many years on an anti-psychotic. Not only is she a Mao Te Sung follower, but an honest to God WACKO!!!

    Bring on the Thorazine!!!
    .
The Psychotics are running the White House!!!

“Tardive dyskinesia – major signs of the condition are excessive movement of the lips, tongue and jaw, (known as oro-facial dyskinesia). The term “tardive” means delayed or late-appearing and this reflects the fact that treatment may have gone on for some months or years before the movement disorder becomes apparent. Oro-facial dyskinesia is the most common form of tardive dyskinesia. Other abnormal movements are seen including jerky, abrupt movements of the limbs and body, but these are less common.

It may be that people with schizophrenia tend to develop odd movements but may be especially susceptible when taking antipsychotic drugs. The control and planning of movement is a function of certain areas of the brain. If schizophrenia is thought of as a disease of the brain rather than of the mind, it can be understood why movement is so commonly disturbed in people with schizophrenia.”

Were it not for the OMB graphic right up front, I would have thought that this video was produced by/for the Ketchup Advisory Board.

Half of my family has the flu, including my pregnant wife…Eight hours for her in the hospital yesterday with severe dehydration due to nausea.

    Wash your hands frequently, please.

    Thanks, Paul.
    .
I would just ask everyone to take this flu season seriously.

  • centfan

So is Orzag like a “gilf”?

  • sacredh

Best wishes for you and your wife grape_crush. We’re almost to the point at work where vacations are going to be cancelled and those of us that aren’t sick might have to start working doubles. Almost everywhere you go where I work there is a container of anti-bacterial hand cream. Most of us are electing to work on projects by ourselves rather than with someone else.
