UPDATE: The Great Obama Back-To-School Scandal

Apparently, telling Hillary jokes in a public school classroom is not the same thing as “indoctrination.”

A Tale of Two Economies: Mitt Romney vs. Republican Governors

The great recession has left the state of Ohio battered and bruised–and Mitt Romney would have you believe it’s Barack Obama’s fault. Writing in the Cleveland Plain-Dealer on May 4, Romney advised Ohioans that the President has delivered them “paltry results,” and that their state is in need of “a fundamental change in direction.”

What I don’t get is why the same folks who are so paranoid about ‘government’ are all HUGE fans of their local police departments, their son’s Marine Unit and their US Customs & Border Protection service.
    .
Does someone suddenly cease being a member of the government as soon as you hand them a gun and a uniform?

  • trifecta55

Nah. They were fine with Reagan and Bush Sr doing national things with kids. They were fine with W reading books about pet goats to kids.
    .
They have learned that there temper tantrums are covered by the media, while democrats aren’t. There were dems opposed to Reagan and Bush speaking to kids, but they don’t get on your teevee.

Mainstream conservatives, after all, are being left behind
    .
Hard to leave someone behind when the only direction you’re going is backward.
    .
It’s also kind of like saying “Democrats with a backbone are leading the way”, neither group really exists.

Also, if I hear the words “socialist” and “agenda” next to each other in a sentence again I’m just going to poison the worlds supply of smokeless tobacco and finish this thing once and for all.

  • bobcn1

I know it’s an old joke, but it’s worth repeating:
If Obama found a cure for cancer the gopers would accuse him of causing unemployment in the health care industry.

There is nothing that will placate these people. Nothing at all. They will not be satisfied until they are back in power. In the mean time they will say and do virtually anything that will help them to achieve their objective.

Not all gopers are unethical, but the majority of the current leaders are. They are unprincipled and dishonest. They consider lies and misrepresentation merely political weapons, to be judged by their effectiveness — not their morality. Striving for bipartisanship with them is a waste of time. Trying to find common ground with these people is a fool’s errand.

Thanks for the link, KT. I’ll be passing that one along.
    .
We desperately need two dynamic political parties that contribute to the common good of our nation and argue over issues of substance. Freaking out over President Obama’s coming address to schoolchildren is not an issue of substance. All it does is further diminish what little reputation the GOP has outside of its own shrinking, echo-chamber-dwelling base.
    .
I teach high-school freshmen who are far more mature and considerate than this.

Now that the “librul media” has become the blatantly conservative corporate media, when will the MSM (ie the conservative media) begin bending over backward to appease those of us residing left of center?

Perhaps we just haven’t threatened them enough yet, as the right did successfully.

Drop your arugula and grab your pitchforks, folks!

But seriously, except for the lovely and talented KT here, who in the MSM will call this fraudulent, amoral FL hypocrite out on his outrageous misdeeds in any substantive way? Why is this smug, cowardly t-rd allowed to get away with such grossly intentional deception?

When will *anyone* in the MSM (or the GOP) finally find the courage and integrity to call these shameless, bald-faced right-wing extremist liars precisely that?

Have you no decency, MSM? No shame, GOP? No honor, RNC?

  • Dee in Columbia MD

    You are so correct bob–
    .
Here’s what I say to those who remind us that Obama promised bipartisanship..
    .
Bipartisanship was achieved on Nov. 4th, when all citizens interested in tackling our issues voted for Barack Obama — It’s no longer about left and right, it’s about sane and not!

  • bobcn1

    ‘No honor, RNC?’
    .
    In a word: No.
    .
The head of the RNC, Michael Steele, is the same guy that (in 2006) distributed STEELE/DEMOCRAT bumper stickers when he was running for Lt. Governor of Maryland. His solution to getting elected in a heavily Democratic state was to lie to people. During the same election he and the republican governor distributed ‘Democratic Sample Ballots’ on election day that had themselves listed as the Democratic choice.

    link: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/11/12/AR2006111201084.html
    .
More recently, the RNC distributed a push-poll survey that contained:

It has been suggested that the government could use voter registration to determine a person’s political affiliation, prompting fears that GOP voters might be discriminated against for medical treatment in a Democrat-imposed health care rationing system. Does this possibility concern you?

    .
Yes, the RNC is dishonorable. But it’s not just the RNC. Have you heard any respectable republicans condemning these tactics?
    .
    No? Neither have I.

  • Dee in Columbia MD

Paul it’s simple. It’s not government they hate it’s the professionals running it. That’s why Republicans spend so much time perfecting their good old boy act. They only like folks they perceive are just like them, have a different color they shun you, speak a different language they shun you, and posses a different educational background and they shun you. They loved Dubya and Shady Sarah because neither one sounded like they belonged to the educated elite and that’s all they are comfortable with. Of course, despite Bush’s affectations, he was to the manor born and well Sarah, just can’t as stupid as she sounds can she? But I digress.
    .
It’s the elite, the educated, the professionals they hate. So you can understand why Barack drives them over the cliff, he’s a triple threat. He’s a different color, his name sounds like he speaks a different language and he’s so damn smart and well educated they want to blow their brains out although they’d pref his. The only professions they like are one that will have them. So they can’t like any that quire more than a high school education.

  • Dee in Columbia MD

Oh please, KT’s a fraud. Where is the stories she promised on the GOP’s activities. Where the stories about the astroturfing that she was looking into, where’s the story she passed off to the elusive colleague. The only reason you got this post is because everyone else is doing it.
    .
I know she’s got a huge following because she feeds the swamp every now and them, but don’t confuse the access with respect. When you hold her feet to the fire she always has some reporting to do. She’s talking down this health care reform effort from the beginning. She was chicken little before the town halls and never bothered to find out the truth about them because they fit into her preconceived narrative. If you read KT consistently then you know that she has contributed as much to the current state of affairs as the rest of the village and acting like she’s the greatest things since sliced bread is unwarranted and is certainly undeserved.
    .
The reason why the GOP gets away with what they do is because the media does not hold them accountable. Only now that the school things is so beyond ridiculous that they are even bothering to ask the question what’s going on. And KT also stuck to the false equivalency and her answer to this crap when it first started getting really bad was to turn off the tee vee.

  • tilliswynette

if Obama wanted to talk about the sanctity of marriage and the right to life, and other important issues facing our young people, I’d say fine, go ahead, give a speech to our nation’s children. But what he wants to do is trick our children into supporting cap and trade, and embrace the myth of global warming, which we all know, goes against the natural order of things and not the type of things that should be discussed in our schools.

  • Dee in Columbia MD

And let’s not forget the life size photo cutouts of himself placed across from every polling place in black communities. He actually thought by making sure black voters knew he was black and hiring a bunch of blacks, bussed in from Philly who also thought he was a Democrat, to pass out those sample ballots, he thought he could fool the voters and steal their vote.
    .
I guess that’s what he really meant in 2008 when he showed up at Smiley’s state of the black America event and said no matter how much we differ on philosophies “nothing trumps race.”

  • ilikechips

KT- why the media blackout on Van Jones..what a joke how u and ur fellow libs are protecting him. can u imagine the coverage if Bush had named a Czar that said Clinton was suckin on his crack pipe too long..the liberal bias in this country is astounding

  • Dee in Columbia MD

Are you nuts or just dumb a box of rocks? The President isn’t go to talk about policy of any kind, yours or ours. The problem with you wingnuts is that you think everyone acts like you do and what you fail to grasp as that most of us have more integrity than you do. No politician worth his or her salt would stoop to indoctrinating children. He is not the Democratic President, or the President of the Democratic Party. He is the President of the United States and the last time I checked that included you a$$holes too, unless of course your an illegal alien or writing in from a foreign country — and no, as much as I wish that it might an alternate universe doesn’t count.
    .
Get a freaking grip. Just because you are incapable of checking partisanship at the door to deal with the real problems facing this nation doesn’t mean that every body else has the same handicap. Why don’t you just admit that what it is that you can’t stand is having your children looking up to a Black man that has achieved more than you. what galls you is that when you look at what he has achieved you can’t tell that lie to yourself that keeps you going that no matter what failures you have had in your life well at least you’re better than the blacks.
    .
Frankly, I wish that you people would just go back to banging your first cousin and leave governing up to those equipped to govern. This know nothing, anti intellectual crap that you spew is fine for those who aspire to shop in Walmart, but me, I have greater expectations for me and mine and I’d rather not let you destroy the country anymore than you’ve already done over the last eight years.

Bush had a czar named John Poindexter who was convicted of 5 felonies; if you want to play “media blackout” game I ‘ll up you every time.

  • Dee in Columbia MD

What I want to know is when will the media generate the requisite frenzy? When are you going to probe the motives and the tactics that are currently being used by Republican elected officials to damage our political system? I thought the pronouncement that “the revolution won’t be televised,” was a warning to get engaged because change is not something that can happen with only passive involvement. Who knew it would have guessed it was a prophetic declaration, because the media would choose to ignore it.
    .
To you reporters who want to know where Rangel’s money is coming from, why not pay some attention to where the money for these town halls are coming from. Is there any collusion between them and elected officials? Have you even bothered to check? If not, why isn’t using taxpayer funded town halls to delegitimize the President of the United States an act of sedition? At the least isn’t it partisan campaigning and if so why are tax payers footing the bill?
    .
I get the whole freedom of speech thing, but you do realize that they don’t have any respect for it unless someone is trying to shut down their vitriol. So why does the media spend so much time helping them out because as soon as they get into power they are going to clamp down on you — it would seem to me you’ve signed up for a suicide pack. Thomas Frank might have posed the question what’s the matter with Kansas — I say what’s the matter with the village?
    .
Why don’t you see these people for what they are. They love to bring up Nazis imagery but they are the only ones using the kinds of demonization and propaganda tactics that would be worthy of that regime. You have to stop thinking about the nice folks you met on the cocktail circuit and ask yourself where are they now? Where are the voices of reason and why have they allowed the crazies to run amok?
    .
I bet William Buckley is turning over in his grave, because he kicked this kind of trash out of the Republican Party long ago — for this precise reason. But now the Republican party is so devoid of any intellectual ideas, moral character and practical know how beyond how to destroy — they’ve become so desperate for numbers that they are willing to destroy the country than lose.
    .
Too bad the media has become so desperate for entertainment that you pretend that you don’t know the difference, but unlike with the Berline wall, September 11th, and North Korean nukes or Bush’s numerous failures — you won’t be able to feign surprise — there will plenty of comments warning you of what’s happening and you won’t be able to claim that no one could have known, or guessed. It will be clear that you just didn’t bother to look.

FLASH! Republican Corporate America Feels Threatened…..
And that makes them VERY DANGEROUS!!! BEWARE…. BEWARE…
Because of this, they are capable of doing anything to get their way.
Lying, cheating, framing and even worse like a wild animal backed
Into a corner, they will use every opportunity to escape. Case in point:
HEALTH CARE REFORM – Notice how skillfully a much needed
Humanitarian effort to help millions who either have lost their medical
Benefits or those who never had any benefits, have been subverted into some crazy “Communist/Socialist” plot with ultimate designs leading to some GHETTO
Hospital Death Camps…??? Please and pass me a shovel! NO, Republicans with
Their have vs. have not Ideology would rather see their poorer neighbors
And their children rot in the streets than to spend a little more money to help them.
Also, the rotting must take place in their own poor community streets.
“NOT MY COMMUNITY” is a much heard statement these days. If that’s not
bad enough, now they are screaming that their children are going to be DAMAGED FOR LIFE if they view/hear the upcoming presidential speech for students here in America.
Whole school systems are reverting to the 1950s DUCK & COVER nuclear bomb
scare tactics. Apparently when President Obama speaks children are to DUCK under their desk and COVER their ears as if tons of radioactive fallout will begin falling. Other school systems will leave it up to the teacher. They can pick and choose who to blame
if it becomes necessary… It will. Indeed, these are very dangerous and bad times and along with bad times, the bad comes out. Subversive, conniving greed with the same
old cover letter ‘Conspiracy’ to cover the truth is now on the scene to thwart the efforts of
The decent and Honorable to that which serves those who are Indecent and Dishonorable…GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

FLASH…. MSG FROM GOD…. Blessing coming when REPUBLICANS understands
What is required of them…. STOP
Reply: Dear LORD, a few DEMS could stand to hear this, too.
    MSG FROM GOD… Done. STOP

Speaking of media blackouts and scandals, how’s about revisiting the fact that 3/4 of the House Republicans voted in April to privatize Medicare, in a vote that was never going pass but where everyone was free to vote their true ideology:
At the same time, the debate also exposed political weaknesses in his House GOP rivals. Republicans in the House had even more defections on their alternative budget, losing 37 of the chamber’s more moderate members in a 293-137 tally that rejected cuts to Medicare and the Medicaid health care program for the poor and disabled.
What is more, GOP leaders are clearly nervous that votes in favor of the GOP alternative have exposed their members to political danger.
The plan, drafted by Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, top Republican on the House Budget Committee, called for eventually replacing the traditional Medicare program with subsidies to help retirees enroll in private health care plans. Current beneficiaries would keep their coverage and those 55 and older also would go into the current system.
Critics of the plan said the Medicare subsidies would inevitably not keep pace with inflation and that people in poor health might end up uninsured, while many needy people on Medicaid could lose coverage.

    http://is.gd/2WfAO
If Republicans are going to play “protector’s of Medicare”, maybe they should start explaining how privatizing it was supposed to accomplish that.

“ipartisanship was achieved on Nov. 4th, when all citizens interested in tackling our issues voted for Barack Obama — It’s no longer about left and right, it’s about sane and not!”

Yes and they are becoming sane again

Fifty-one percent (51%) of voters nationwide believe that Congress is too liberal while 22% hold the opposite view and say it is too conservative.

Overall, 49% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. Fifty-one percent (51%) disapprove

Sixty-two percent (62%) of Americans say it’s always better to cut taxes than increase government spending because taxpayers, not bureaucrats, are the best judges of how to spend their own money.

It has to be because those lying Republicans and Fox News. Outsie of the educated, eluie professional liberals everyone else is too stupid to know what is good for them.

The only people lying are liberals to themselves.

  • pafro

I bet if you asked the brainiacs where their taxation levels stacked up against historical levels they would all think they have way worse than anyone else in the history of the U.S. Around here, we know that’s not true though because we are well versed in looking things up.

  • Dee in Columbia MD

I don’t care about Van because he’s done nothing to warrant my attention. Because unlike you I engage in propaganda I live in the world where facts matter and pretend is for books. In fact, the only reason why you care about Van is because Glenn Beck told you to. beck who is a liar and an idiot is trying to deflect from the loss of his sponsors. Of course this move is only making it worse because he won’t let the sponsors forget that he constantly attacks the white house — so I guess they won’t be messing with him any time soon. I hope he goes broke and back to his car and alcohol.
    .
Of course you listen to people like Beck, Limbaugh and the rest of the rabble rousers because you’re scared and stupid and they are just as stupid as you. But unlike you I’m not afraid of my shadow. I don’t care that someone thinks something that I don’t. I’m not scared of everything that is not exactly like me. You people kill me, you claim to be patriots, but can’t stand our system of government. You claim to strong but are paranoid of everything you can’t control. You claim to have values but traffic in lies. But it’s not the fact that you’re a walking contradiction or a hypocrite that bothers me.
    .
It’s that you are completely devoid of character, integrity and respect. You can not admit when you’re wrong so therefore when you are wrong you cannot make amends. You love to take the mistakes you make and lay them at the feet of others. George Bush broke this country and when we were just a stones throw from financial collapse you didn’t have a whole lot to say. But now that you think its safe to get back into the water you want to know when it will be your turn to screw it up again.
    .
You act like you are the only tax payers, yet every year my state pays out more than it gets back as is the case with most liberal states and the money goes to support the walmart states in the heartland and instead of saying thank you and going on your way, you act like you are the only ones that should have any say. My grandmother taught me as a child that the key to success was the ability to recognize stupid and avoid it. The problem with conservatives of your ilk is that you don’t know there’s a difference because when you recognized stupid you got stuck on it.
    .
Supply-side economics was a failure, what ever Bush did he failed, please tell me what you people bring to the table that is helpful to future generations. September 11, happened when you were in charge and Timothy McVeigh was a product of the heartland and the same mentality that produces the vitriol and hate you espouse towards our president. So I don’t see any purpose for you. To be honest. you’re not a real conservative,. Buckley kicked your ilke out of the party in the sixties. I guess you hedged your bets by kicking Buckley’s son out of the magazine before he could repeat the act that his father did that allowed the conservative movement to take root.

11.3Bush had a czar named John Poindexter who was convicted of 5 felonies; if you want to play “media blackout” game I ‘ll up you every time.

The convictions were reversed in 1991 on the technical grounds that the prosecution’s evidence may have been tainted by exposure to Poindexter’s testimony before the joint House-Senate committee investigating the matter, in which Poindexter’s testimony was compelled by a grant of ‘use immunity’. The prosecution was not able to re-try the case.

You go the game of a school girl. Stick to just calling people liars and now you can start with yourself!

Great link James — I’m thinking that our villagers haven’t seen this kind of reporting since they left journalism school, because clearly, asking actual questions is too much work and it’s so much easier to just talk to my fellow reporters and right wing sources what they is going to happen because I’m only trying to keep score anyway. It’s not like it’s my responsibility to print news.

Liberals always say it’s about facts. It’s not. Its about culture. What brings a society to its knees is depravity and moral relativism. For example, liberals want to take away our right to bear arms, because they don’t want us to shoot the criminals who would steal our car or pick our pocket, and then violate our ladies. There is no right and there is no wrong in the liberal ivory towers of academia. To them, murderers are just people who resent their fathers when they spanked them too hard after immoral acts. This is the reason my church and friends are so angry and why we have been filling townhalls all summer long.

You are right Dee. It isn’t just asking the questions, but actually going to ask the questions of normal people without a political agenda. Real people, normal people, who aren’t showing up at preplanned events armed with talking points and vitriol. That is what is so remarkable about this series. And being patient enough and astute enough to follow up on responses intelligently. It demonstrates what a complete failure our press has been in reporting this issue
    .
I don’t blame these people for being uninformed. Obviously, they have other priorities in their lives, some of them very pressing priorities, and can’t or don’t spend hours every day on the internet trying to get information. And people who read their newspaper or watch the local news, how do they know they are being fed a boatload of bullsh!t? You only find that out how completely useless is Time Magazine reporting, for example, or local TV news reporting, when you go on the internet.
    .
Hey KT wrote on this site that the reason she passed on the town hall story was because she didn’t feel she could do it from DC
    .
Well, I’m glad she made that judgment. The town hall story is a sideshow anyway. It has nothing to do, really, with health care reform. It’s a distraction from talking about the serious policy issues that is ginned up by the Republicans desperate to disguise the fact that they are working for the insurance companies, and not their constituents. The Democrats were insane and stupid to think it would help their cause.

  • Dee in Columbia MD

freepa — I don’t hate Republicans, my brother -in-law is Republican and I love him. But then again, he has the good sense to be ashamed of his party now. He says that as a man of character he could no more condone the actions of idiots attempting to destroy our democratic traditions than he could have turned a blind eye to someone spying against his country. After spending his entire life defending this nation he can’t believe the party he belongs to is doing more damage than any terrorist from he middle east.
    .
And frankly, I agree with his assessment that his party (GOP) is encouraging what he calls the “freaks and squeaks” to denigrate the presidency because they don’t like the current president. He says that conservatism is about defending and protecting our traditions and there is nothing here that he can see that is about maintaining our traditions. The office of the presidency deserves our respect and the moment that we lose respect for the civilian command, we cease being America and become just one more banana republic — and frankly he and his brothers did not fight and die for a banana republic.
    .
In this country freepa its not about believing in a different philosophy, it’s about recognizing that we all have a right to our own opinions, but as one nation we are required to settled on one set of facts. At the end of the day this country belongs to all of us and just because the majority didn’t vote for your way you don’t get to take you marbles and go home or destroy our home because you can’t have you way. Treating your opposition like they are less than you are and that anything other than your vision is illegitimate and not deserving of respect is how we got to the civil war. Obviously for some of you, the last 145 years was just intermission, but for most of us we settled it already.
    .
I understand that you can’t admit that it is driving you so cray that a black man is in office that the only way you live another day is to spending every waking moment trying to being him down. But when you are busy pumping yourself up just remember who failed to protect us from September 11th, when he received an intelligence memo on August the 8th entitled “Osama to Attack US. Don’t forget on whose watch the stock market went from 14,000 to 6300. don’t forget on whose watch that Afghanistan became nearly unwinnable and Osama went uncaught. Republicans are good on campaigning but they can’t govern their way out of a paper bag.
    .
You oppose health care reform, yet 10 years ago out ten in the tan years prior to Bush taking office we spent 950 billion dollars for health care. Over the next ten years that includes wight with Bush, we spend two trillion. So you keep listening to the failed sports comic Limbaugh and the fired journalist Bill O’Reilly and the rest of demagogues that you think speak the gospel and I’ll stick with the facts.

I mixed up which diatribe I was responding

    14.1Dee in Columbi…

    Rasmussen polls.

Probably not as reliable as Daily Kos or Huffington but from what us low lives hear they do a decent job.

Repeat Dee I must stop lying to myself
    I must take my meds
I must get out of Mom’s basement

Why would you talk about something you don’t know anything about. You don’t know what they do in Academia because you haven’t spent any time there. All you know is what they tell you on talk radio and they didn’t go to college either.
    .
Liberals don’t want to take you guns, they want you to shoot yourself in the head with them.
    .
But you are right about culture. Liberals deal in facts and since you don’t have any on your side you go with these cultural prejudices based on things you make up about people you don’t know.
    .
Stop acting like you are do morally superior. It was GOP Senator Vitter that got caught with the DC madam wearing diapers, It was GOP governor Sanford that got caught out there on the Appalachian trail. it was GOP Senator Ensign that got his mommy and daddy to pay hush money to his mistress and her family. Do I need to go on? Or are you ready to recognize that there’s not a single GOP family that can hold a candle to the first family. Including Bush’s two drunken daughters, John McCain’s drug attic, drug thief of a wife who tried to blame her crime on some poor schmuck and Sarah Palin, whose teenage daughter had a baby out of wedlock, oh but her morals don’t count because she kept her baby — I forgot — premarital sex and babies out of wedlock only matter when a minority or a liberal does it.
    .
You are a hypocrite of the highest order. And you talk about church like it means something good about you and yours. I suppose that you belong to that nice conservative church that’s praying for the death of our President and inspired members of their congregation to stalk his appearances with loaded guns. And please explain all these conservative politician’s having a relationship with the “C Street Family” — a so-called Christian sect that teaches they are above the rest. That they don’t have to follow the same moral guides as everyone one else and its okay to fornicate, commit adultery, and pay off bribes as long as they tell each other and no one else and that they don’t have to answer to their families or the voters for their actions — which is why none of the ones I mentioned resigned. Tight up your alley huh?

Um. My post above referred to tilliswynette and the other fact-free Beck-worshipers, not to some of my fave Swampers pw and Dee. Just to be clear.

  • stuartzechman

It’s been infested with trolls trying to get reactions from well-meaning, but upset people, so they can sit back and laugh.
    .
The trolls this time are posing as rightist morons, they will pose as leftist morons next time.

  • Dee in Columbia MD

Yes James I agree, the town halls were a side show, but the press chose to put them on center stage — the least they could have done was write about where they came from, who sponsored them — you know followed the money, the press you to do that. That’s what made it so remarkable because to answer those questions required you to be in DC where the headquarters were. She chose to ignore the story and reported on the town halls as if they were real, even knowing they weren’t — Thank God for Rachel Maddow.
    .
I believe the reason that KT, and others on this site ignored this aspect of the story is because CNN not only devoted full coverage (and I mean a full day of coverage like there were C-span) to one of these AstroTurf sponsored town halls, they embedded a reporter to travel with them on their bus tour. They interview these people on air and even when they admit they’ve been i the health care field for years, they let you assume these people are doctors or nurses, they don’t acknowledge that these folks are from the insurance industry. It’s hard to be believe that a political reporter would just ignore the collusion between the government (GOP elected officials) and corporations (insurance industry) — that would be fascism, so I’m thinking she had to be told to lay-off of the story.
    .
Even the guy from politico admitted it but said so that it didn’t matter, I think this is the result of the corporate media. They deliberately buried the truth and that’s why I have no respect for KT — if she would have just said I won’t be working on this story and left it there I would have given her a pass, but she tried to front and say she was looking into it, oh she not in the right geographic location, she was going to pass it off to a colleague — then pretend that what I’m saying is crazy because no story is ever produced. I think she’s just as corrupt as the rest of the villagers and I think because she responds to comments too many people give her a pass that Mikey and Joe would never get.

  • Dee in Columbia MD

you’re probably right Stuart — I’m tired I bid you all good night…

  • James, Los Angeles

Well stuart there is a lot of stuff from the far left that i don’t agree with, but I’ve yet to see any postings quite as triumphantly anti-fact as what’s brought to this site by the rightwing loons. What “leftist morons” might you be referring to?

  • James, Los Angeles

    nite, Dee.

  • James, Los Angeles

Well Dee I don’t disagree, but ultimately it is the
Dems responsibility to control their message, and they just let the whole thing get way out of control. They have no communications infrastructure and it’s about time they got their sh!t together. They should have known the rightwing would do this, it was entirely predictable. The whole thing patterned after Terri Schiavo debacle, including whipping the legacy press into action aiding and abetting teh crazy. It isn’t really the press’ responsibility to transmit the Dem’s message.

“Tillis” is obviously a troll – she’s too pitch prefect. But a righteous rant from Dee!

There are really only three Swampland topics these days: Health Care, Afghanistan, and The Stupidity. I could do with fewer posts on the latter topic (why dignify these people? tho’ I’m one to talk…). But the HC comment threads have been very informative, if depressing.

KT: If the high sherifs see it as newsworthy, I think it would be great if Time would do a story that gives us context for the presidential narratives in the first six months of office and how the public responded. it would need to include at least 4 or 5 different presidents.

In our Tweet-filled “on to the next thing world”, I think we too quickly lose sight of the way previous administrations were portrayed, so we can’t completely assess the fairness or inappropriateness of what is happening currently.

Actually, it would be helpful if more print stories could include appropriate comparisons to previous administrations and other indicators.

Thanks so much for this post, KT. I’m a Florida Democrat but was thinking about voting for Charlie Crist for Senator. Now that you’ve pointed to this Scott Maxwell column which states that Crist continues to support Jim Greer, despite Greer’s outrageous statements about the President & after learning that Greer himself was giving highly-partisan talks to grade school kids, means Charlie Crist won’t be getting my vote.

    .
Van Johnson a Louis Farrakhan clone? Really? Why would you say that? Was it because of his performance in Brigadoon? Or was it his performance in The Caine Mutiny? Was that the one that reminds you of Farrakhan?
    .
Oh… Wait a minute! Maybe you meant to type Van Jones — not Van Johnson.
    .
Van Jones is a Louis Farrakhan clone because…
    .
Hmmm… That one isn’t too clear to me either. Jones is a Christian but Farrakhan is a Black Muslim, so there’s not much similarity there. They don’t to have much in common philosophically either, so they could hardly be called ‘clones’ in that area.
    .
    They are both black.
    .
    Oh… Now I get it.

“I don’t hate Republicans my brother-in-law is one” Wow what ovewhelming evidence. Is this what you mean by one set of facts. And if it is not hate is it just disdain? You know liberal nuance.

I love your new found respect for the office of the presidency which, of course, the elite brilliant liberals had shown Bush for 8 yrs? So then we ceased being America by your terms 8 years ago and we are now a banana republic lead by Obama. On that part I would agree with you.

“Treating your opposition like they are less than you are and that anything other than your vision is illegitimate and not deserving of respect is how we got to the civil war.

You must be psychotic. The majority of your diatribes do nothing but demean anyone who disagrees with your view of “facts” as idiots, nut-jobs and mentally inferior. Just re-read what you wrote in responses today.

“I understand that you can’t admit that it is driving you so cray that a black man is in office”

And it took a whole 3 paragraphs before you threw out the race card. Not surprising since liberals despite their self-proclaimed brilliance have little intellectual capacity to deliver reasoning behind their “ideas” The major response is someone is a racist, sexist or homophobe. Problem now is that folks are having none of it as we have seen from this administration that being a racist is not limited to us dumb white folks.

Your last paragraph was absolute gibberish, I can’t tell if you are drunk or having a seizure.

It must be very frustrating to not being able to get away with what liberals say and want anymore as gospel. What is shown time and time again when a liberals real agenda and thoughts are put in the light of day, most Americans want no part of it. Those are the facts. Deal with it and please get your meds re-filled.

Your comments are right on…. can I quote you on Facebook? Conversely, can you post them on Facebook, Twitter and MySpace?

    I’m flattered! Be my guest.

Although I’ve been pretty harsh in my comments about the gopers lately, I usually try to avoid it. I prefer to be polite. It’s hard though. I’ve really lost my patience with them and their despicable behavior.

I think tilliswynette is doing Stephen Colbert’s routine, and doing it quite well. Well played sir or ma’am!

  • towandavt

….as is the morning coffee! Let it not ever be said that we liberals lack a sense of humor!

  • towandavt

Exactly right! The big news should be that the gopers are over the edge and someone needs to say it out loud in the MSM. Enough is enough!

  • bethnva

You lost me well before “the myth of global warming”.

  • freeinpa

More precisely it was started by the stupid. It seems that whenever the left is only comfortable when their are no opposing opinions. Their main defense is to name call and belittle any opposition and when that doe snot deter the opposition the bring out the big guns of accusing them of racism, sexism or being a homophobe.

That’s what passes for liberal intellect.

    Keep lying to yourself.

Obama is bringing “community organizing” into the classroom.

He takes things much farther than previous presidents who might have been simply brought a wholesome positive message.

Obama and his Czars are 100% from the school of mind-control.

The “Menu of Classroom Activities” put out by the Dept of Ed was one of the most repulsive pieces of propaganda I have ever seen. Full of Obama-worship and peer pressure tactics.

Have you read them in their entirity? Both the PreK – 6th grade and 7 – 12th grade “menus”?? I assure you that all of the parts that offended ME have not been taken out, because there are SO many offensive parts.

You can make fun of me and call me crazy or whatever you want… there comes a time when we have to draw this line.

Do not try to tell me that this marxist and his radical left teachers union and dept of edu do not have an ulterior motive in mind!

    My kids are off limits!

A few tidbits to back up my assertions:
I’m sure this teacher won’t participate in blatant pro-Obama propaganda… oh yeah, right.

    “Ideological Subversion”, read this: http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/08/from_russia_with_no_love.html

Star-studded “I Pledge to be a servant to Barack Obama” video (don’t miss the last minute, priceless):
