The Telegraph is reporting that Hamid Karzai seems to have “won” the election with “72%” of the vote. If so, a fix will be claimed by his opponents, which may lead to more and greater confusion. But there also have been reports that Karzai wants to bring two of his main opponents–Abdullah Abdullah and Ashraf Ghani–back into the government. That would be excellent news, although I’m not sure how Karzai can make this happen, since both Abdullah and Ghani served in the Karzai government–as Foreign and Finance Ministers, respectively–and left in disgust.

But I suppose we should wait for the actual results.

Update: The Times has an Afghan official saying that Karzai won with 68%.
