Romney Defends Bain Record, Hits Obama on Economy: ‘He Just Doesn’t Have a Clue’

Mitt Romney lashed President Obama’s economic stewardship in an interview with TIME’s Mark Halperin on Wednesday, deflecting attacks on his years as a private equity executive and laying out how he hopes to take control of the economy as soon as he’s sworn in, should he defeat Obama in November.

Mother of Mitt: How Lenore Romney’s Failed Campaign Shaped the Presumptive Republican Nominee

This week’s TIME cover story, “The Mother of the Mitt Campaign,” tells the tale of how Lenore Romney’s 1970 run for U.S. Senate may have made a bigger impression on the Republican presidential candidate than his years spent as the son of a governor. Mitt’s father lost his own presidential bid, but it was the lessons from his mother’s loss that are more instructive as Romney enters the campaign stretch.

    Hey, mistakes happen, whatevs.

    Why Brooks Kraft is…

“Unobtrusive and trustworthy, Brooks has earned access to assignments reserved for a select few. From Presidents, Candidates for Office, Celebrities, and CEO stars, Brooks’ cool head and sharp eyes make him a classic among today’s top American photojournalists.”

I know this because Brooks Kraft at Brooks Kraft.com told me so.

Looks like someone needs to give our “Commander in Chief” a few lessons in military protocol!!!!!!

I agree. They should. End of story. But why is THIS the introductory post at TIME’s Swampland by Brooks Kraft, self-described access holder to CEO stars?

I don’t know if Brooks Kraft is truly “among today’s top American photojournalists,” but if this is the evidence, I’d say no. Time (and, hopefully, better-crafted posts in the future) will tell.

And this isn’t about partisanship. If this showed Sarah Palin instead of Barack Obama, I might snicker a little, true, but I’d also think it was a fairly shallow story. (If a 41-second video that’s a bit boring with a 20-word introduction counts as a story.)

If this is any indication of the wonderful videos and photography we have to look forward to – AND SNAPPY COMMENTARY!! – don’t f’in bother. I have seen better video from my wife’s cell phone.

And, for what it is worth – with all the idiotic insanity about who should salute what and when, it is no wonder the guy doesn’t know what to to salute!

For one thing, you DON”T salute when you are not in uniform. Neither do you hold your hand over your heart for the national anthem. But, that has been screwed up completely, thanx to the Faux News crowd.

All in all, a grand waste of Swampland electrons.

    Oh noze!

After quick search I ran across this. Are there other protocols out there too? http://www.flagsbay.com/flag/2007/02/13/protocol-for-the-national-anthem-and-pledge-of-allegiance/ And yeah, I’m not fond of this video, thus my counterbalancing picks. But may the future be brighter. Remember that Amy got a rough treatment at first. Then again, where is she?

I first learned how to salute 42 years ago this month in Company B, 5th Battalion, 2nd Training Brigade, at Fort Gordon, Georgia. A lot of water passed under the bridge since then, but I still remember how awkward I was as SSG William L. Carr, my Drill Sergeant, did his best to teach me the intricacies of saluting. It doesn’t come easy. You have to learn how to form your hand and arm, how to aim it instinctively at your right eyebrow if you salute uncovered, and at the right corner of the brim of your hat if you salute under cover. At the time, I learned that – indeed – you did not salute – officially – when out of uniform, but a respectful quick salute towards your Peers was not to be sneered at.

    Come forward 40 years.

Congress in 2008 amended the law so that Veterans not in Uniform could give the Military Salute when Rendering Honors to the Flag. That is, when the flag is being raised or lowered, when the National Anthem is sounded, and when the Plege of Allegence is being recited. As for the President of the United States, he technically doesn’t HAVE a uniform, but – as Commander In Chief – he is the highest ranking Officer in the five services, and thus can decide when he will render a salute and when he won’t, and no one can second guess him. Of course, it would pay him dividends if he put himself under the tutelage of a Drill Sergeant who can teach him the finer points. If he were to ask me, I’d be glad to volunteer.

Incidentally, we Retirees still salute each other at will, and dare anyone to reprimand us.
