Another Security Breach Via Twitter

What is it about Iraq that seems to trigger everyone’s Twitter impulse? First, Pete Hoekstra tweets what was supposed to be a top-secret congressional trip to Baghdad. Now we find out more about Stephen Colbert’s trip to an ostensibly undisclosed location in the Persian Gulf. And how did we learn?

Anyway, this will be one worth staying up late to watch.

UPDATE: I should point out/clarify that the headline here was meant to be my effort at irony. Colbert himself left little doubt where he was going in this interview with Stars and Stripes’ Stripes Central blog:

Comedian Stephen Colbert is headed to the Persian Gulf to entertain U.S. troops, but he won’t say where or when.

“I’m not supposed to tell anyone where I’m going, but just say it’s sandy and they’d like us to leave,” Colbert told Stars and Stripes on Tuesday.

The host of Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” said he was invited by Gen. David Petraeus, head of U.S. Central Command, to entertain U.S. troops downrange.

“I’m hoping they’re just going to blindfold me, fly the plane around in the air for 12 hours and drop me in New Mexico and tell me it’s the Persian Gulf, because I wouldn’t know the difference,” he said.

Mother of Mitt: How Lenore Romney’s Failed Campaign Shaped the Presumptive Republican Nominee

This week’s TIME cover story, “The Mother of the Mitt Campaign,” tells the tale of how Lenore Romney’s 1970 run for U.S. Senate may have made a bigger impression on the Republican presidential candidate than his years spent as the son of a governor. Mitt’s father lost his own presidential bid, but it was the lessons from his mother’s loss that are more instructive as Romney enters the campaign stretch.

The bigger news, to me, is that she’s actually going on the Colbert Report.

    That should be good times.

The bigger news is that she knows Iraq is “overseas.”

Is she wearing that Polar Bear pin to try and scare Stephen Colbert, or to symbolize her opposition to adding them to the endangered species list?

Those barbarian people sure have strange ways of welcoming heroes!
[Would you believe it: They probably think that we have strange ways of promoting democracy and the good-old American values - by doing the Hitler thing with rapes, tortures - the works.]
