Why God Invented C-SPAN

In today’s installment, Rep. John R. Carter is so dad-gum mad at Janet Napolitano that he thinks President Obama should dad-gum fire that woman.

Obama Stumbles? Why the President’s Right to Talk About Bain

The meme of the day in journo-world is that President Obama has stumbled at the outset of the general election campaign. The evidence for this? Well, uh, there isn’t very much, really–except that a few Democrats have criticized his campaign’s attacks on Mitt Romney’s record at Bain Capital and that Obama’s fundraising is merely humongous, instead of obscenely humongous. The two phenomena are linked, of course: Obama isn’t getting the usual haul from Wall Street because he has outrageously–outrageously!–tried to regulate the bankers who did so much to crash the economy in 2008. The handful of Democrats squawking are people who either (a) get money from private equity firms or (b) have retired and joined Mondo Casino. But there is another side to this story:

It’s simply embarrassing. How’s it feel to be from Texas these days, cowgirl? And did you see that 48% of Texican repugs want to secede? Lots of unpatriotic Texans want out of the union.

Napolitano has said some pretty stupid things over the past few days. She irritated Canadians with her, um, ridiculous comments about 9/11 conspirators. Her comments that border crossing isn’t illegal was risible. And this on top of the granting of work visas to illegals swept up in a raid.
    .
But of course, Janet Napolitano’s idiocy doesn’t make Swampland.

wvng, I am not a Rush Limbaugh fan. I don’t listen to him, unless it’s a clip link in a bigger story. I have read some transcripts of his. “Dumb” is not an accurate descriptor of him. (I know you didn’t say that he was dumb, but if his followers are, then you’re probably saying that Rush’s message isn’t that erudite. If you’re not, then fine.) Rush Limbaugh is a bright guy.
    .
Conservative judicial observers can make the same mistake. Judge Stephen Reinhardt is an awful judge who gets reversed a lot. But it would be a huge huge mistake to say that he is dumb. He’s not. He’s a bright guy, and his stuff is very well thought out.

sgw, clearly wingnuts are proud of them. I’m still astonished that Bachmann was re-elected despite that trainwreck of a campaign. About 20-25% of this country lives in wingnut la-la land (maybe losing a few as the torture story unpacks).

It’s not that all of the wingnuts are as dumb as a 5lb box of rocks. It’s just that too many find their way to a microphone and get exposed. Then when the questions comes like they always do whenever stupidity is exposed, they force themselves to follow the 11th commandment, not to talk ill of a fellow Republican. So either they say nothing and just look stupid or they open their mouths and defend the bizarre, the absurd and the down right ridiculous and confirm their affliction.

  • Paul-no not that one

When can we expect to see Time magazine post the video of dingbat Napolitano declaring that the 9/11 terrorists entered the United States through Cananda?

    -

Napolitano: “Nonetheless, to the extent that terrorists have come into our country or suspected or known terrorists have entered our country across a border, it’s been across the Canadian border. There are real issues there.”

When asked if she was referring to the 9-11 terrorists, Napolitano added: “Not just those but others as well.”

    -

When can we expect to see Time magazine post the video of dingbat Napolitano declaring that entering the United States illegally is not a crime?

“Bright guy.” I don’t think that phrase means what you think it does.

    .
But, more seriously, too many on the right seem to live in an alternate reality that doesn’t mesh well with the real thing. Thus he get’s reversed a lot.

I have no doubt that many of the neoconservatives truly thought Iraq would be a cakewalk, and the historical evidence is that they excluded dissenting views from people who just might disagree with them. Many of the neoconservatives are “bright guys” as well. Also delusional and totally resistant to anything but the “reality” they choose to believe in.

PS, just because the FBI has 180 ongoing eco-terrorist cases and eco-terrorists have engaged in 1800 acts of terror in recent years doesn’t mean that liberals need to be targeted either.
