Romney Defends Bain Record, Hits Obama on Economy: ‘He Just Doesn’t Have a Clue’

Mitt Romney lashed President Obama’s economic stewardship in an interview with TIME’s Mark Halperin on Wednesday, deflecting attacks on his years as a private equity executive and laying out how he hopes to take control of the economy as soon as he’s sworn in, should he defeat Obama in November.

Mother of Mitt: How Lenore Romney’s Failed Campaign Shaped the Presumptive Republican Nominee

This week’s TIME cover story, “The Mother of the Mitt Campaign,” tells the tale of how Lenore Romney’s 1970 run for U.S. Senate may have made a bigger impression on the Republican presidential candidate than his years spent as the son of a governor. Mitt’s father lost his own presidential bid, but it was the lessons from his mother’s loss that are more instructive as Romney enters the campaign stretch.

Wouldn’t it be faster to go door-to-door and ask everyone in Minnesota how they voted?

This is the race that will never end….

it just goes on and on my friend…

As I said in a previous thread I hope this resolved by 2014 so we know who will be running for re-election.

The great thing about this is the attitude of comradery and sense of humor as the canvasing board proceeds with their work. Little “d” democracy at its midwestern best.

I am a bit surprised that the RW goon squad – a la Miami-Dade 2000 – hasn’t descended on the meeting room throwing spit balls and foaming at the mouth. Also somewhat dismayed by the lack of overtly Fargoesque accents in the room, although the guy who reads out each ballot’s location comes pretty close to Frances McDormand in both tone and facial expressions.

Obviously, PNNTO hooked me on the proceeding’s live-stream by calling them “oddly compelling.”

wvng, I think the culinary options of lutefisk, hot dish and green jello, were enough of a deterrent to keep RWers away…plus it’s generally much colder than FL.

Great Paul Krugman post a couple days ago.

Oh I really, really hope Al Franken wins. I think he’d be the much better senator over Coleman, and it would be just so awesome to have a seriously successful SNL comedian in the US Senate!

  • dfh

Interesting how there has been no press coverage of Coleman’s ethics problems.

  • Paul-no not that one

And Coleman’s use of campaign funds to pay for his lawyers is a pretty muted story too.

Go Al! I think Franken will be an excellent senator. He’s a devoted disciple of the late Paul Wellstone and he will certainly be a strong advocate for the Wellstone’s kind of liberalism.

I also think that if NY Governor Patterson were to appoint Fran Drescher to Hillary’s seat, CSPAN broadcasts of Franken-Drescher subcommittee meetings could be more fun to watch than Comedy Central.
