More On The Anti-Obama Campaign That Didn’t Happen

A couple weeks back, I wrote about a McCain campaign ad, developed by Fred Davis, that would have tied Barack Obama to Rev. Jeremiah Wright. The ad never ran, because John McCain ruled Wright out of bounds. But the ad has now been leaked to ABC News. See it here.

Statement from The Chicago Tribune

The Chicago Tribune withheld publication of information about the wiretapping and bugging of Gov. Blagojevich at the request of the U.S. Attorney office. In a just released statement, the newspaper explains why. The Chicago Tribune investigated allegations of misconduct involving Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich independent of the U.S. attorney’s criminal probe.  As a standard practice, [...]

Change To Win Denies Involvement

Patrick Fitzgerald has made clear that people should withhold judgement on those people or groups that Gov. Rod Blagojevich mentioned as part of his alledged criminal scheme. “We make no charges about the other people mentioned in this complaint,” he said. In Search of Disappointed Liberals

Michael Tomasky, always a voice of sanity and lovely prose stylist, weighs in on the alleged disappointment of liberals with the pre-partum Obama Administration.  I’d add two thoughts: Obama’s oft-stated intent to make the infrastructure program a green jobs program that will help wean the nation off foreign oil, is at once progressive, environmentally smart [...]

Speaking of the medium and the message, Peter Nicholas of the LA Times gets a copy of the memo that the White House is sending to cabinet secretaries and other top officials who might be giving speeches: Titled “Speech Topper on the Bush Record,” the talking points state that Bush “kept the American people safe” [...]
