Campaign Spam: A Peek

It’s Michael that usually handles the conveying the gist of the enormous amounts of email people on the campaigns’ press lists get every day. But cleaning out my in box this morning, I was struck by the almost absurdist quality the missives can take on, especially when viewed en masse: ICYMI, “Fact check: Broken,” and the wonderfully counterintuitive, “Obama’s Energy Plan Is Fueled By Populism.” (They say that like it’s a bad thing…) And McCain’s “In Defense of Obama” is an attempt to square the circle of Obama flip-flopping to a position they approve of (drilling), by insisting that he hasn’t changed his position at all.
