Here’s my account for TIME.com of the news conference, which looked great on TV, but was blisteringly hot. My sleeveless blouse (a violation of the campaign’s dress code suggestions) did not seem to offend anyone, but I noticed women in Jordan wearing everything from burkas to spaghetti straps.
As for the herculean feats: Alas, not only was there no wi-fi, but also no power, which was a problem for me, because my laptop was drained of its life force. As for the cold sodas, they were all gone by the time I got there with the pool, and I’m told they were lukewarm.
I’m now in Jerusalem and looking forward to a few hours of precious sleep.
