More About Bill

As grumbling about Bill Clinton grows among Democratic leaders (and particularly among Hillary Clinton’s fellow Senators), the word I’m hearing is her operation is growing quite worried that the former President’s comments are becoming too big a story this week.

They are looking for some graceful way to tamp it down. Not so easy, where Bill is concerned, of course. There had been some thought given to having Hillary find a way to make fun of it somehow in her economic speech this morning, but that idea was discarded as going too off-message. Still, one source says to look for the campaign to find some way to “lighten this up.”

    Candidates often say things when polling in the single digits that come back to haunt them when they start leading the polls. Last October, Rick Santorum gave an interview with an Evangelical blog called Caffeinated Thoughts, in which he said contraception is “not okay,” and that this would be a public policy issue he would tackle as President.     There’s nothing “wrong” with protests built around placard-hoisting and park-squatting, but Occupy the SEC is definitely doing something right with its radically different tack.
