Do you remember the billionaire Robert Johnson, the guy who brought up Barack Obama’s drug use at a Clinton rally on Sunday? Do you remember how he called anyone who accused him of saying what he said “irresponsible and incorrect”? Do you remember how Hillary Clinton said at Tuesday’s debate that Johnson had admitted his comments were “out of bounds” even though he had not?

Well, today Johnson finally did what Clinton said he had already done. He sent a letter to Obama. To wit, “In my zeal to support Senator Clinton, I made some very inappropriate remarks for which I am truly sorry. I hope that you will accept this apology. Good luck on the campaign trail.”

So now the question is what credibility remains for Johnson, the founder of Black Entertainment Television. He was caught throwing mud. He denied he was throwing mud. He called anyone who said he was throwing mud “irresponsible.” Now he seems to admit he was throwing mud. In Washington, this is called “politics.” In your neighborhood, it is probably called “getting caught in a lie.” Either way, it should be remembered.
