The Hillary You Know

The chin-stroking among pundits over the Clinton campaign’s “decision” to work on making her “likable” is particularly amusing considering that we’ve been having this conversation for, uhm, over a decade.

Even weirder is that serious political journalists can discuss this “problem” without considering the kind of writing they do about her. Because you know what stories about making Hillary “likable” do? Make people think that not being “likable” is a problem. Then again, the campaign does seem to have gone out of its way to give the media fodder for that narrative. But I suspect that the Iowans that vote for Hillary have decided that they care more about something else (experience, Bill, health care) than whether or not they like her. Her entire Iowa campaign — up until now — has been premised on that.

Sorry for all the quote marks.
