Bush Joins the Chorus Belli

Think all that bellicose rhetoric we’ve been hearing lately from Administraiton allies and other assorted neo-cons about launching an attack on Iran is just, well, rhetoric? You may be right. As a colleague said to me recently, this Administration could barely muster the support, publicly or internally, to launch an attack on the nearest Starbucks. But none other than the commander-in-chief added his voice to the chorus belli at his press conference today, warning that Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons could lead to World War III. Top that! In full, according to the Bloomberg report, Bush said:

“If Iran had a nuclear weapon, it’d be a dangerous threat to world peace,” Bush said at White House press conference today. “So I’ve told people that if you’re interested in avoiding World War III, it seems like you ought to be interested” in preventing Iran from gaining that capability.

Bush covered a lot of other ground in his press conference, ranging from legislative battles with Congress to his visit with the Dalai Lama. Here’s the full transcript from the AP.
