Jay, do you buy what Dodd’s spokesman is peddling? And can you smell what the Rock is cooking?
A1: Is Dodd’s adviser putting the best possible spin on the fact that his candidate still hasn’t broken out of the bottom tier, has scarce financial resources and very long odds of winning the nomination? Yes. But I also doubt that Dodd has completely abandoned New Hampshire. It seems that Iowa is everything now, to every Democratic campaign. But for Dodd to pull off a miracle, he’ll need a stronger than expected showing in IA to create a groundswell in NH, where his regional appeal could then be exploited. Like I said, it would take a miracle. But it’s his best hope.
