The Rove Tally

Michael Gerson awards Karl Rove the Nobel Peace Prize in today’s Washington Post. I thought Rove’s finest Mother Theresa moment was when he allowed the McCain-has-an-interacial-baby rumor to spread during the South Carolina primary. And then there was the high patriotism of the Swift Boat veterans for Truth…oh, but those had nothing to do with the official Bush campaign. Yeah, right.

Meanwhile, the tally from yesterday’s voting. According to Swampland readers, you think Rove will work for:

Romney 14
Rudy 11
Thompson 5
Newt 2
McCain 1

I tend to agree that he’ll go with Romney, if he goes. Rove is fond of saying, “Americans don’t elect angry presidents,” which I think sort of leaves out Rudy.

Long-Term Uncertainty Remains in Nuclear Talks with Iran

Anyone banking on a big-win breakthrough in Wednesday’s nuclear talks with Iran will likely find themselves in the same boat as investors who bet on an instant surge in the Facebook stock price last week. If there’s value to be found in nuclear negotiations with Iran, then — like an investment in Facebook — it’s likely to emerge over time. And in both cases, even the long-term outcome remains uncertain.
