You can tell that the Bush Administration has no problem with torture because they keep sending Gonzales back to the Hill. The fact that he hasn’t already admitted that he’s bin Laden’s driver, a 9/11 planner, and the one who told Bush about Santa Claus is, truly, a testament to his fortitude.

Think Progress has collected some of Tuesday’s greatest hits here.

You know if the Senate would just call it “legislative waterboarding” and not “oversight,” I bet they could get Cheney to support it.

UPDATE: Of course, even if torture isn’t against the law, lying to Congress is:

WASHINGTON (AP) – A group of Senate Democrats called Wednesday for a special counsel to investigate whether Attorney General Alberto Gonzales perjured himself regarding the firings of U.S. attorneys and administration dissent over President Bush’s domestic surveillance program.

Sure, appoint a special prosecutor! That’ll show Bush! Just like the last time, when we threw Scooter Libby in jail… Oh, right. Hm. Maybe now “special prosecutor” is just a ceremonial title, designed to make people feel good about the illusion of justice. Like, you know, “Attorney General.”
