EDITOR’S NOTE: TotT is a daily rundown of significant campaign events, compiled by Katie Rooney. It is late today because its editor is growing senile. If you have ideas or suggestions on how to make “Today on the Trail” better, please let us know in the comments section.

Several state and county Republican groups celebrate their “Lincoln Day” this weekend, an annual GOP primary celebration and fundraising event, and you know what that means – the Republican presidential candidates are out raking in the campaign cash. The Huckabees are tyring to pull in twice as much with the former Arkansas governor and his wife splitting up the groundwork. Mike Huckabee (R) spends the weekend trolling through Iowa – making stops at The Des Moines Register’s Editorial Board meeting, the Iowapolitics.com luncheon at Drake University and then the Bull Moose Club reception all in the capital city on Friday. Saturday he’ll speak at a GOP pancake breakfast in Indianola then heads back to Des Moines to attend a Republican Party of Iowa spring dinner. Meanwhile, Mrs. Huckabee is in South Carolina, speaking at the Charleston County Republican Convention Friday and two other Republican convention events Saturday – one in Berkeley County and the other at Winthrop University.

Here’s where the other presidential candidates will be this weekend:

  • Almost all the Republican candidates are celebrating Lincoln Day in some fashion – former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson will also be at the pancake breakfast in Indianola, Iowa Saturday, making other stops in Winterset for the Iowa Federation of Republican Women District IV spring conference, Webster County for a meet and greet and ending his trip at the Republican Party of Iowa’s Annual Lincoln Day Dinner in Des Moines.
  • Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) joins Mrs. Huckabee at the Charleston County GOP convention in South Carolina Friday.
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) continues his campaigning in Michigan Friday. He’ll hold a press conference in Kalamazoo in the morning, stay for the Lincoln Day Lunch around noon and then end up in Peoria, Illinois to visit the Civic Center in the evening.

  • Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) campaigns in Iowa this weekend and spends Saturday headlining Rep. Roy Blunt’s (R-Mo.) breakfast fundraiser in Springfield.
  • Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) also spends the weekend in Iowa. He’ll be at an early bird breakfast in Onawa Saturday morning and the Lincoln Day Dinner in Des Moines in the afternoon. Sunday he’ll attend the Jefferson County Republican Spring Fundraiser in Fairfield.
  • Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) is the keynote speaker at the joint Merrimack-Sullivan County Lincoln Day Dinner in Sunapee, N.H. Sunday.
  • Don’t worry, the Democrats want your money this weekend too. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) makes her fifth trip to New Hampshire since February – making a policy address in Concord and then meeting with voters in Manchester on Friday. Saturday she’ll host her “Conversation with Granite Staters” in Hampton.
  • Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) sweeps New England, stopping in three different states. He hits Massachusetts campuses Friday, speaking at both Harvard and Boston Universities, then joins Clinton in New Hampshire Saturday, speaking at a Teaching Peace Conference in Durham in the morning, a rally in Portsmouth in the afternoon and a leadership forum in Auburn in the evening (and in between all that he hopes to stop for happy hour in Manchester with the Young Dems). Sunday afternoon he’s in Storrs, Conn. speaking to the College Democrats at the University of Connecticut.
  • Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) covers even more ground than Kucinich. He starts off in Charlotte, N.C., then heads to Florence, S.C. to host a health care community meeting before ending up in Columbia for the South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus Dinner. Saturday Obama hits Atlanta, Georgia before going south to Florida to prepare for Sunday’s Tampa-area campaign kick off.
  • New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson (D) comes back home to Santa Fe after spending almost a week trekking through the Koreas. He’ll hold a press conference about the trip after arriving at the Santa Fe Airport Friday morning.
  • Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) will be in Boulder, Colorado Friday addressing the Conference on World Affairs at the University of Colorado.
  • Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) spends Friday and Saturday in Nevada, but probably won’t hit the Strip. He’ll hold a few “kitchen table meetings” with different groups in the state throughout the weekend.
