GOP IN-FIGHTING, REVEALED!

And I had to poke around in a little-noticed literary journal called “The New York Times” to find it:

My favorite thing about this chart — as pointed out by a friend of mine — is that it appears to equate David Geffen and Donald Rumsfeld, which can’t be pleasant for either of them. (Geffen would remind us that he is more powerful.)

Regarding the relative importance of the feuds themselves, well, it’s not exactly like McCain is taking much of a risk in criticizing Cheney or Rumsfeld, both of whom are, literally, less popular than torture with the American people. Of course, McCain is less popular than torture among Republicans, so he’s not exactly helping himself either.

The real problem, of course, is that the McCain-Cheney-Rumsfeld gang bang is about policy, which is much less exciting than, you know, MAUREEN DOWD! BRIGHT LIGHTS! PRETTY PRETTY!

The much-heralded and long-awaited Obama campaign media attack on Mitt Romney began Monday with a reporter conference call and the release of two videos bemoaning the pain caused after Romney’s former private equity firm, Bain Capital, took over a Missouri steel company called GST Steel. The effort is textbook negative politics, from the sympathetic white working class steel men bemoaning their lost careers to the talk about “values” and the shots of lonely industrial wastelands left by the collective failure of Romney, Bain and GST.
