I love this part:
In the statement to news organizations, Mr. Maliki went beyond trying to prove that the woman had not been raped, implying that she was unmarried and having an affair.
Maliki sure knows how to win over those Sunnis.
And then, there’s the question of when the U.S. Military will tell us what actually happened:
While acknowledging that she had been admitted to an American-run medical facility on Sunday, [General Caldwell] refused to divulge details of her treatment or examination.
Now, it’s possible that the woman isn’t telling the truth. But if that’s the case, doesn’t the U.S. military have the responsibility to clear this up? And why did the U.S. officers feel compelled to take her to the hospital?
