None other than White House Press Secretary Tony Snow has come to the defense of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, pronouncing the flap over her use of a government plane to fly back and forth from her San Francisco a nontroversy:
This is a silly story, and I think it’s been unfair to the speaker.
Snow elaborated:
We think it’s important that the speaker of the House enjoy the same kind of security that we arranged for Speaker Hastert in the wake of Sept. 11. And like I said, I think that there’s been a lot of over-hyped reporting on this.
He should tell that to House Republican leaders, who have been fanning said silly, over-hyped story, and to the Republican National Committee, which this morning put out a news release titled:
