OBAMA FORMS PRESIDENTIAL EXPLORATORY COMMITTEE
U.S. Senator Barack Obama today filed papers with the Federal Election Commission establishing the “Obama Exploratory Committee.” A formal announcement of his decision will occur on February 10th in Illinois.
What the professional political class will be watching:
One thing you get in this “exploratory” phase is a sense of just where Obama’s fundraising support is likely to come from. As one big Democratic moneyman told me this morning: “A lot of people are paralyzed because of Bill Clinton.” But look for early backing from some of the same people who funded Bill Bradley in 2000, as well as Silicon Valley and Hollywood types who have never been entirely enamored of HRC.
